July was definitely one for the records and no doubt we were all hot under the collar. Just like any good blizzard, the heat equally kept me inside working nonstop. I really hustled to get a new mosaic stained glass window created. I wanted to enter the Art League's August exhibit on landscapes. Although I am not a landscape artist, I like challenging myself with new ways to express my creativity. Well.... my challenge payed off, my piece was accepted and is now on exhibit in Art League's Gallery in the Torpedo Factory for the month of August. Noah, my son, also had one of his sculptures accepted and is on display.

I find making these windows is so exciting because they change color depending on the time of day and how much light is flowing through it. Here is another photo taken of the this window later in the afternoon.

"Wilderness Construction" - Noah Williams
I've also been creating some ceramic jars called "My Peeps".They are small treasure containers that are about 4 1/2 to 5in. tall. Below are two of a growing family. You can look in my website gallery, "Clay Works" to see other "Peeps" and ceramic sculptures. New pieces are constantly being added.
As many of you know, I love designing cards. My August aspiration is to begin building my inventory with some of my old design favorites and start putting together some new ideas as well. Letter writing is becoming a dying art, but everyone loves a "thinking of you" card. My first series of notecards are

These cards are my way of honoring our brown angels of the late 1800's and early 1900's that never knew how special and lovely they were because of the biased standards that they had to endure. I adorn them in pearls, beads, antique and hand dyed fabrics, and laces in the original design. Below are photos of the six cards that will be in this first series. (The last card is slightly different from the card included in this package, it has a border and a quote on the front of the card).
